ESTHER ROSA AT SOHOTEL ARTSPACE GALLERY (March 2nd to 23rd)

I am so so so happy with this project: it really connects with my art!!. Since I started painting, my objective has always been to find serenity, hope, future, calm, peace.... In a few words, I tried really hard to start over and be myself again. There are so many times in life when circumstances make you lose that interior balance that everyone needs to find in life. So many times there are passages in life when you feel that balance is completely lost: dramatic events, big changes, a lost ...

When "Sohotel Artspace Gallery" approached me about their interest to bring my work to the gallery, they said they felt my work would fit well with the Gregorian Family Violin Benefit to be host on March 16th, to support the Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. This time, a climate disaster stole precious things from so many families around the coast, so many lost everything, their homes, their memories, their lives....... I feel so grateful to be able to help build a new start, to bring hope, to bring at least a little portion of that interior balance everyone needs to hold in their life!!.

Here more information about the Classic Concert that Gregorian family will celebrate at the gallery where my work will be exhibit from March 2nd to 23rd.

TELVA OCTUBRE 2012

Telva Octubre 2012, Tiempo libre: Arte

October 2012, Free time: Art

Dear Telva thank you so much for including me at your October publication.

If you would like to know me better, here some information.

My passion for painting is a late call and it came as a great surprise to me. It has been a source of great satisfaction.

Born in Madrid, Spain, I earned a  M.A. in Psychology, specializing in Industrial Psychology, and later earned and a MBA from "Instituto de Empresa" Business School. I worked in Human Resources for 15 years in Antena 3 Television, and 7 years as Manager in Human Resources and Development, thriving in my career and fully enjoying it.  In 2006 my husband pursued a work opportunity in New York, and we relocated, here is where we live since then.

I've always been a very dedicated person and a hard worker. Leaving my country, family and career behind was a serious move and it took a huge effort, that came with its many rewards. Almost accidentally, and because my children were still young and at the time needed much of my attention, instead if focusing on finding a new job opportunity, I started taking evening classes in an art school in Manhattan. I was hooked, discovered a talent I never knew I had resulting in that the following year I was enrolling for a Diploma in Fine Arts.

I had never been particularly attracted to painting, did not even know if I could paint or draw at all, I had never tried before. The amazing surprise was discovering this ability, which has become my new career and my creative engine!

During these years, I have done several group exhibitions and many of my works are in private collections in NY, Madrid and Miami. Now you can see several of my works at IESE Business School in NY and I am currently preparing my first solo exhibition to be held from 9 to 27th of October in the Gallery Sonia Gechtoff at the National Academy of Fine Arts, close by to the Guggenheim Museum.

My style has expressionist roots, my paintings have a look of elegance, serenity, joy. Organic forms that inspire me flow between a harmonic palette on the surface. Sometimes I use other media, I also manipulate the pigments to cause oxidation and thus obtain very personal colors. My aesthetic taste, my roots and my experiences mark my style. It is a long process that is gradually defined by discipline and perseverance; it develops gradually into a conversation with the canvas. Indeed, the creative process is both fascinating and fulfilling.

My inspirations are endless: a walk through Central Park, a visit to a gallery or museum, the work of artists such as: among Spaniards: Luis Feito, Tapies, Manuel Salinas, Esteban Vicente, Jose Maria Sicilia, Soledad Sevilla, Antonio Murado; and international artists as Cy Twombly, Helen Frankenthaler, Pat Steir, Zao Wou Ki. Presently, I am collaborating with Richard Baquero, of RAb-ID Interior Design Inc.
www.RAB-ID.com.

My Solo Show will be open from October 9th to 27th, the opening reception will be on Wednesday, October 10th from 6-8 pm in the Gallery Sonia Gechtoff at the National Academy of Fine Arts in New York, 5 East 89th Street.

If 6 years ago someone had told me that my profession was to be an artist and that I would end up exhibiting in New York, I would most likely cracked up! What is clear to me now is that with discipline and hard work you are able to do what you pursuit, as Picasso said to let inspiration get in you have to keep working.

This facet in my life has taught me a great couple of things: always trust yourself, look inside and do not close any doors; otherwise you'd never know what you are capable of doing.

Telva, thank you very much for your vote of confidence and for your support to women like me that pursuit their personal goals!
