Dear Friends, next Tuesday, May 15th, the National Academy School and Museum will celebrate an Open House.

The NA has selected some artwork to be exhibit. I will show a large scale abstract painting, 10x8 feet!!!.

“Aquí descubrí mi vena artística”

Esther Rosa está convencida de que su vida sería absolutamente distinta de no vivir en Nueva York, “tanto, que muy probablemente nunca hubiera descubierto mi vena artística”. Esta psicóloga industrial que trabajó durante 15 años gestionando Desarrollo de Recursos Humanos descubrió su pasión por la pintura cuando se trasladó a la ciudad con su familia en 2006. “Una oferta de trabajo nos trajo aquí y a mí personalmente me obligó a plantearme un nuevo reto profesional”. Motivada por su padre, aficionado a la pintura, comenzó sus estudios en la National Academy School of Fine Arts en Manhattan. “Un descubrimiento, porque nunca antes había estado relacionada con el arte, ni por formación ni por afición; desconocía lo que era capaz de hacer y de crear”. Reconoce que, artísticamente, “Nueva York es el lugar para estar al día de las últimas tendencias”. Apenas echa de menos España: “No me da tiempo, los días en esta ciudad pasan volando y cuando quieres darte cuenta ya es Navidad o verano, las dos veces en las que voy a pasar una temporada a mi tierra”. "Here I discovered my artistic side"

Esther Rosa is convinced that her life would be quite different from not living in New York, "therefore, that most likely would never have discovered my artistic side." This industrial psychologist who worked for 15 years managing HRD discovered her passion for painting when she moved to town with her family in 2006. "A job brought us here and to me forced me to wonder a new professional challenge." Motivated by her father, fond of painting, she began her studies at the National Academy School of Fine Arts in Manhattan. "A discovery, because I'd never been involved with art, either training or as a hobby, know what she was capable of doing and creating." Recognizes that, artistically, "New York is the place to keep abreast of the latest trends." Just misses Spain: "I do not have time, days fly by in this city and when you realize it's Christmas or summer, the two times that I spend some time on my country" In the last year Esther Rosa has exhibited in the Spanish Center, the National Academy School of Fine Arts and at Affordable Art Fair. www.estherrosa.com

Los artistas españoles hacen las maletas para probar suerte en Nueva York

"Si puedes hacerlo aquí, puedes hacerlo en cualquier sitio". Es lo que Frank Sinatra canta en su conocida "New York, New York". Se la considera la ciudad de las oportunidades y son muchos los artistas españoles que viajan hasta allí para intentar triunfar en lo suyo. Es el caso de la actriz Ana Asensio o la cantante gallega 'Cardigan Bridge".

Triunfar nunca ha sido fácil pero si lo intentas hacer en una ciudad como nueva York en la que los artistas y "aspirantes a" saltan de cualquier esquina parece menos factible. Sin embargo, en los tiempos de la fiera competencia Nueva York se llena de artistas españoles que luchan por hacerse un hueco en el mercado labora, y no todos lo ven tan difícil.

Es el caso de la actriz Ana Asensio que después de haber trabajado en más de 20 obras teatrales y películas ha aterrizado en Manhattan para probar suerte en la interpretación. La actriz trabaja actualmente en una versión moderna del clásico 'Medea'.

Asensio asegura: "Aquí hay tantas puertas a las que llamar que me puedo pasar aquí toda la vida llamando puertas y nunca agotaré las posibilidades y a lo mejor al final tengo suerte".

Por su parte, 'Cardigan Bridge' una cantante que bajo su nombre y sus letras en inglés esconde a una gallega de pura cepa ha optado por organizar su mini gira en Nueva York. La artista se muestra emocionada con la convocatoria y reconoce que se trata de unpaso "muy importante" para su carrera.

La pintora Esther Rosa señala que las oportunidades de formación son muy amplias en la gran manzana para aspirantes a artistas que quieren triunfar en cualquier campo.

En Nueva York, el escenario más grande del planeta, España tiene su propio foco.

"If you can do here, you can do anywhere." This is what Frank Sinatra sings in his famous "New York, New York." It is considered the city of opportunities and many Spanish artists who travel there to try to succeed on his own. This is the case of actress and singer Ana Asensio or Galician 'Cardigan Bridge".

Success has never been easy but if you try to do in a city like New York in which artists and "aspiring to" jump from any corner seems less likely. However, in times of fierce competition New York is full of Spanish artists struggling to gain a foothold in the market works, and not everyone sees it that hard.

This is the case of actress Ana Asensio after having worked in over 20 plays and filmshave landed in Manhattan to try his hand at acting. She is currently working on a modern version of the classic 'Medea'.

Asensio says: "There are so many doors to the call that I can spend a lifetime here and never used up all doors calling the possibilities and maybe the end I have luck."

For its part, 'Cardigan Bridge' a singer under his name and his lyrics in English hides afull-blooded Galician has chosen to organize their mini tour in New York. The artist is excited about the call and recognizes that it is a step "very important" for her career.

The painter Esther Rosa notes that training opportunities are vast in the Big Apple for aspiring artists who want to succeed in any field.

In New York, the largest stage in the world, Spain has its own focus.
