ESTHER ROSA AT THE NATIONAL ACADEMY MUSEUM, NY.

Last Friday, May 10th, the historic Huntington Mansion on 5th Avenue, presently the home of the National Academy Museum, was transformed by an exciting and eclectic display of work from international and national artists of all mediums via its CREATIVE MISCHIEF exhibition. Over 1,000 people visited it!.

For this special occasion, I showed a large scale installation entitled BREATHING UNDERWATER which measures 21 ft x 11 ft and is comprised of over 7,000 coffee filters that have been gently dyed with coffee and arranged to resemble a surreal, dreamlike landscape.  I want to enchant the viewer and lead him/her into a soothing, peaceful realm, embraced by nature, much like the calm ebb and flow of the waves as they approach the sandy beach.  By leading the viewer into this tranquil landscape, I hope to provide him/her with a soothing experience from which to get the energy to keep breathing and transcend life as we know it.

ESTHER ROSA AT SOHOTEL ARTSPACE GALLERY (March 2nd to 23rd)

I am so so so happy with this project: it really connects with my art!!. Since I started painting, my objective has always been to find serenity, hope, future, calm, peace.... In a few words, I tried really hard to start over and be myself again. There are so many times in life when circumstances make you lose that interior balance that everyone needs to find in life. So many times there are passages in life when you feel that balance is completely lost: dramatic events, big changes, a lost ...

When "Sohotel Artspace Gallery" approached me about their interest to bring my work to the gallery, they said they felt my work would fit well with the Gregorian Family Violin Benefit to be host on March 16th, to support the Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund. This time, a climate disaster stole precious things from so many families around the coast, so many lost everything, their homes, their memories, their lives....... I feel so grateful to be able to help build a new start, to bring hope, to bring at least a little portion of that interior balance everyone needs to hold in their life!!.

Here more information about the Classic Concert that Gregorian family will celebrate at the gallery where my work will be exhibit from March 2nd to 23rd.

About the Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund
Founded in 1988, Robin Hood is New York’s largest poverty-fighting organization, and has focused on finding, funding and creating programs and schools that generate meaningful results for families in New York’s poorest neighborhoods.   The Robin Hood Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund is distributing tens of millions of dollars to organizations throughout New York’s tri-state region that are helping individuals and families recover from the devastating effects of the storm.  In addition, Robin Hood’s board of directors pays all administrative, fundraising and evaluation costs, so 100% of your donation goes directly to organizations helping victims of Hurricane Sandy rebuild their lives.
